Terms of Use
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Welcome to Reporter Map. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the use of the Reporter Map
application ("App", "we"). By tapping "I have read and agree", or by using the App in any
way, you ("user", "you") fully agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the
App.
1. What is Reporter Map
Reporter Map is a collaborative map where users record and view reports about situations
in their neighborhood — such as mosquito and breeding-ground sightings, noise, potholes,
burned-out streetlights, illegal dumping, abandoned or at-risk animals, among other civic
categories. Reports are created and maintained by the user community itself.
The App is not an official emergency channel. Reports sent through Reporter Map
are not routed to public agencies, police, fire departments, or health
services. In a real emergency, call the official numbers (190, 192, 193 in
Brazil).
2. Eligibility
Use of Reporter Map is intended for people 18 years of age or older, since the App
contains user-generated content that is not moderated before publication. By accepting
these Terms, you declare that you are 18 years of age or older.
3. Your account and your content
-
Reports are published anonymously to other users: no one in the app can see who
submitted which report.
-
Internally, we associate each report with a user identifier, used exclusively for
moderation purposes (e.g., applying penalties or bans to users who violate these Terms).
-
You are solely responsible for the content you publish — including text, photos, and the
location associated with a report.
-
You warrant that you have the right to publish any photo or content you attach, and that
this content does not violate the rights of third parties.
4. Rules of conduct — zero tolerance
Reporter Map has zero tolerance for content or behavior that:
- is offensive, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, or constitutes hate speech;
- threatens, harasses, or incites violence against any person or group;
- contains nudity, sexual, or suggestive content;
- exposes third parties' personal data without consent (doxxing);
- contains false or fabricated information about the reported situation;
- is false with the intent to deceive or harm another person;
- promotes illegal activity;
- attempts to circumvent the App's moderation, reporting, or blocking mechanisms.
Reports must describe situations involving the environment or public space
(e.g., a pothole, a breeding ground, noise) — they must not be used to attack, expose, or
target a specific person.
5. Moderation, reports, and bans
- Any user can report content or immediately remove their own published report.
-
Every content report is reviewed and, when warranted, the content is removed within
24 hours.
-
Users responsible for violations of these Terms may have their reports removed and their
account banned from the App, either permanently or for a set period, at our discretion.
-
You can block/mute the author of a specific report, even without knowing their real
identity — this prevents that author's future reports from appearing to you.
- Repeat violations after a warning result in a permanent ban.
6. Location and privacy
-
The precise location of your home ("My Home") and the location used to attach photos
are processed locally on the device; we store only an approximate version of your home
location on our servers, never the exact address.
- Attaching a photo to a report is always optional.
-
For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimer
The content shown in the App is generated by users themselves and is not verified by us
before publication. We do not guarantee the accuracy, truthfulness, or timeliness of any
report. Use of the App's information is at your own risk.
Reporter Map is provided "as is," with no guarantee of continuous availability or freedom
from errors.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. When a material change is made, we will ask you to
accept the updated version again before continuing to use the App.
9. Contact
